Can I swim with Covercath?

I get a lot of calls from patients asking if it's ok to swim using Covercath. I went to the source and asked Gunner Beery so I could publish the answer. Gunner said that Covercath was extensively tested in a swimming pool environment and the results depended on the type of swimming you did. Certain swimming strokes caused the bandage to stretch and once the water got under the bandage it would not stay on during swimming. That was the reason for the warning about using Covercath during swimming. If care is taken not to stretch the bandage then Covercath should be fine in the swimming pool. No different than using it in the bathtub. If you want to order Covercath just go to www.beachtradingco.com or call 800-297-4714.
